Off late i have started to developing a keen interest in solving compositions or the so called studies. These positions have never occurred in actual tournament praxis,they are imagination of composers. The result is always fixed from before. i.e white to play and win or white to play and draw. Usually there is only way to achieve the aim and usually they are forcing moves and hence studies can be an excellent way to develop your calculation abilities. Solving studies has helped me a lot and i am sure it will help you too.
